Factory demo songs from the Yamaha TG77 recorded direct with no additional effects.Song List:1. Pot Pourri 2. PowerPlay 4.
House Demo:P.Ellis The TG77 is the rackmount version of the SY77. Released during the transition from FM synthesis to ROMpler technology, it combines advanced FM (16 waveforms, 45 algorithms) with 16-bit sampled waveforms (AWM2). It is 16-part multitimbral and was considered very powerful for its day, though it lacks some features of the higher-end SY99, such as sampling. It is very common for the display backlight to burn out, as can be seen in this unit. It can be repaired, but the display is usable without it and the replacement part costs enough (typically around $30) and requires enough effort to replace (full disassembly plus soldering) that many people don't bother. For more information and manuals for this and other synthesizers, visit.

I was wondering if anyone knows the 'factory reset' key combination for theYamaha TG77?Also, if this isn't.too. OT, does anyone know where on the internet I mightget a copy of the.SY99. preset voices in SoundDiver Library format (MIDIfile format at a push)? (Or maybe someone on the list can oblige?).Searches have shown up plenty of SY99 disk files, but I'm interested to seehow the SY99 voices work in the TG77, which doesn't have a disk drive. Many thanks,Mark Ayres.Composer/Sound Designerhttp://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/MarkAyres/. When loading a SY99 preset into a 77 You will have to edit the FXto your liking and since the 99 has 8MB of sound rom and the 77 only 4mbsome patches will not translate, but the FM sections on the two machines areidentical. Also of the 4mb that the 77 &99 have in common some of thesamples have changed slightly - loops improved etc.Enjoy. The main differences between the two synths are the effects and the soundrom set. From the SY77 Module online help:Converting between the SY77/TG77 and SY99- The SY99's Effect section is structured completely differently.
TheSY77 Module is able to convert SY77/TG77 Voices and Multis for theSY99 by converting the effects as well as possible. In the process,Dual and Serial Effect programs are partly used. A conversion of SY99Effects for the SY77/TG77 is not possible in many cases, so the SY77Module will not undertake this.- The AWM Preset Waves are arranged differently. They are convertiblein both directions. Waves that are not available in the SY77/TG77(including 'Internal') become 'Preset 001 Piano'. EnjoyIt's interesting how inspired one can be by the purchase of a 10-year-oldsynth!
I saw this one going s/h and thought I'd give it a try. It's aterrific piece of kit - although I'm probably in FM-overkill as it's sittingalongside a TX816 and a TX81Z! But the AFM/AWM cross-modulation opens up allsorts of possibilities, while the FX and filters breathe new life into allthose old DX7 sounds (tip - the SoundDiver editor is indispensable!).Mark Ayres.Composer/Sound Designerhttp://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/MarkAyres/. I've got a TG77 and still have the manual. I'll lookit up tonight unless someone beats me to the punch. Off the top ofmy head, I want to say it's something like holding the left & rightbottom-most buttons on the phone pad like section of the TG'scontrols while powering on.
But I may be confusing it with another. I saw this one going s/h and thought I'd give it a try. It's aterrific piece of kit - although I'm probably in FM-overkill as it's sittingalongside a TX816 and a TX81Z!

Probably the biggest improvement for me was the ability toassign any of the rom waveforms as FM operators. It increased the sonicpossibilities by a huge factor. Plus the fact that if the rom waveformsweren't enough you could load your own samples and then use them as thesource for a operatorAnd not that I want to make you drool but the improvement of the D to Aconverters on the SY99 as compared to the 77 was very noticeable. The FS1R has been tempting me for some time now also. Patch computabilityfor the FM section is maintained. The word file was very interesting, but didn't actually contain the resetcombination for the TG77 (only the 99). I saw this on the web a couple ofweeks ago and didn't save it.now I can't find it again!Gee.
That's funny. To the best of my memory (I've owned a SY77 and now havea99) the reset and test modes were the same keys. They are identical on the.SY.77 and 99, but the TG doesn't have some of therequisite keys (such as separate 'bank' keys!).Mark Ayres.Composer/Sound Designerhttp://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/MarkAyres/. I need tocheck through some of my other resources. I may have some 'tips & tricks'file somewhere. Also, the 'factory' sound banks can be found i think.
